| After our top ten finish in the invitational last year, we truly thought we had a chance this year. But hey, this is the toughest lineup of teams anywhere in competition barbecue, so that makes it a bit easier to take. Fact is, we were truly in the middle of the pack, and lonely without a call to the stage! But dang, our next door neighbors, The Pork Pullin' Plowboys, won the entire thing! A great day for Todd and crew, and it was a pleasure to meet and cook next to them. Congrats to them, and to good friends Tuffy Stone (Cool Smoke) and Rod Gray (Pellet Envy) on solid top ten finishes, and to all who got calls! |

| Much like our first year at The Royal, we made up for our poor showing at the invitational. The Open is a massive contest with nearly 500 teams, and just as many judges. And to top it off, almost all of the invitational teams that competed Saturday are at it again on Sunday. Our 10th place call in ribs made the entire trip worthwhile, and once the scores were tabulated, Dizzy Pig finished 36th overall. Sure makes the drive home easier knowing we outscored well over 400 teams. Now, onto the Jack! |

| As hard as it is to drive 1100 miles, it's always a joy to see the country. We wanted a change from I-70, and took 64 through West Virginia, Kentucky and southern Indiana this year and, while it added 30 or 40 miles, it was well worth taking this new route. |
We don't own big fancy trailers or RVs, but we still pull onto the rest stops with the big boys! |

Cooked up a couple fatties using rib trimmings, Red Eye Express and maple syrup. Yum. |

| Our buddy Tuffy was busy being a TV star. The camera crew is filming an upcoming series called "The Pitmasters" to be aired, as I understand, on The Learning Channel. |
Our lineup of Big Green Eggs. All of them get used for the competition, and they cook perfectly for us. |
