Our second trip to "Harpoon" was just as much (or even more) fun, but we did not fare as well this year. As usual, the staff at Harpoon made it a pleasure to be there. Our local buds, the "Free Range BBQ" team won 4th place overall, and our friends UFO Social Club (now IQue) won the Grand Championship!! Congrats to them. We ended up without a score sheet, and don't remember how we finished in most of the categories. We do remember we had a great time, and met some fantastic folks form this beautiful place they call "New England".

The local news interviewed us before the contest, as we had travelled over 500 miles. They asked Chris why the Dizzy Pig team travels all this way. His response was something like "We're here for the beer"! Seriously. we love this contest, and really...it's not only for the beer. Good folks work for this company called "Harpoon", and they take a lot of pride in this contest. It is what I would classify as a big party contest with fantastic teams and solid judging.

Same spot as last year. Same shade trees....a little bigger now. One of the briskets we had to work with was a monster.

Uh oh. They are fixin to put Chris on camera for the local news. He was not as nervous as the first time on camera, ,and from what they said, Chris did a real good job!
Our Free Range neighbors (both at home and here at the contest) also made the long trip.....but they didn't get on the news ;-) Mike has the chicken all rubbed up with Dizzy Pig, and a big ol' smile!
Mike joined us to help out, and did an incredible job of answering questions about the Big Green Eggs and our Dizzy Pig rubs. He had fun too! Cameras are fun to play with sometimes.
Our neighbors "seabrisket" had quite the party scene goin on! Our camp and Rob and Lee's "Back 40" spot at night.
How do you get fresh parsley for your presentations? Easy peasy. As usual, Mike adds a touch of love to the Dizzy Pig ribs.
Those Dizzy Pig rubbed ribs sho do look good. Mike is pleased with his efforts on these slabs.
The Dizzy Pig guys and two new friends that were a huge help take a break. A wonderful bagpipe brigade really set the tone for the award ceremony!
