Our third trip to New Holland was another great weekend. For the first time we brought the kids...four of them actually! My nephew, Kenny, won the overall Kids Q with a second place in both chicken and chef's choice! My daughters and my niece were a big help selling Dizzy Pig rubs and tee shirts. Again we met some fine folks, and put out what we thought was our best effort in BBQ. Three tenth place calls were the best we could do, and we were unable to get back into that top ten overall that we always hope for! Congrats again to our pals on the Free Range team for a big 2nd place overall finish, and to Captain and his Piglets for his second win there in three years!

Again, this is a contest where I ended up with an incomplete score sheet. There are some question marks, but we did not do great!

Back to familiar grounds! At this stage we have been competing exactly 2 years, and already it's a third time here at New Holland! Feels like home.

The Dizzy Pig trailer is loaded and ready for the 3 hour trip. Man, drivin to contests is always fun.
We were there on Thursday, and got to hang with Old Dave and his buddy as well as the guru guys....Bob and Shotgun Fred. Chris's daughters and niece handled the Dizzy Pig store, and enjoyed every minute of it!
Chris's nephew, Kenny, used his small egg to cook the Kids Q categories. This was only his second or third time cooking on a grill. He assembled his box with care and precision!
For the "Chef's Choice" category, Kenny chose a rack of lamb, and he did it up right. Good enough for a second place in both categories, and a first place overall! Go get your well deserved trophies young mang! Of course he had the advantage cuz used Dizzy Pig rubs ;-)
Rich seems to show up everywhere we are. Good fella, and always a very tough team to compete against. John and Kenny try and look busy.
John usually spearheads the sausage category, and here he is cookin up his tenth place entry! The butt is done and ready for the holding tank.
Kenny and John fixin for crunch time! Chris and John are the artists in the group and usually do much of the actual presentation work.
"The Knife guy", Ken, works his skills on our brisket. The arteests put the finishing touches on the Pork box.
John and Mary Ann teamed up to put together the box for the Tsunami Spin crabcakes Chris was cooking. The box was beautiful, and we considered leaving the crabcakes out!
A long day done, John walks of stage with his 10th place sausage ribbon. ...and Chris with the tenth place Brisket ribbon.
